About Our Islands

Welcome to Friday Harbor, Washington -- San Juan Island! The San Juan Islands are accessible only by air or by boat, and most popularly by Washington State Ferry from Anacortes, guests discover there are no delays for visitors willing to leave their cars behind. Friday Harbor, a quaint seaport, rises from the ferry landing and public marina where it is an easy stroll to the docks, parks, restaurants, shops, galleries and of the many of the abundant lodging facilities.

Additionally, visitors can readily take a cruise, pedal a bike, hop a flight, paddle a kayak, charter a boat, catch a bus or rent a car to see Orca's in their natural habitat and to wander about the island exploring the National and State parks. Where high-rises are forgotten and sunrises are unforgettable. Where there are more lighthouses than traffic lights. Relax and enjoy, but watch out for deer, bald eagles, seals, whales, and friendly folks.

For the island time of your life!

More sunny days and less rainfall than Seattle. Beautiful fall colors. Splendid spring flowers. No go-cart tracks or water slides. Just a picture perfect town and an island paradise.

In Friday Harbor you can...
  • Shop for unique treasures crafted locally or selectively imported.
  • Dine indoors or out at some of the many fine eateries, offering a full spectrum of culinary delights
  • Take a lesson from nature at The Whale Museum, even adopt an Orca
