The water temperature averages 45 degrees and is a favorite scuba destination for cold water divers. Divers can explore huge kelp forests, see giant sea anemones, or explore caverns where the world's largest Octopus (the Pacific) lives.
Sea Kayaking is another favorite activity on San Juan Island. Several local companies offer guided kayak treks and individual kayak rentals. Whalewatching, boating, and fishing are other popular outdoor, water activities.
