DESCRIPTION:Bring your young artist to the San Juan Islands Museum of Art for Handsewn Puppets\, a free Family Art Days class on Saturday\, August 22 from noon to 2:00 PM — the last class of the Summer 2026 series! Led by Alchemy Arts Center guest instructors Sophia Larsen and Emerald Vernon-Lapow\, kids ages 5 and up will create simple puppets from scrap fabric while learning basic hand-sewing techniques\, with the option to bring special materials from home. Family Art Days is a beloved community program offering hands-on art classes for children to enjoy alongside a parent or supportive adult\, with all materials provided by SJIMA. Admission is free and space is limited\, so register in advance at sjima.org/familyartdays. SJIMA's Fall 2026 Family Art Days series begins September 26\, with the full schedule and registration opening in early September.

DESCRIPTION:Bring your young artist to the San Juan Islands Museum of Art for Trashion Fashion: Wanna Be?\, a free Family Art Days class on Saturday\, August 8 from noon to 2:00 PM. Led by instructors Francie Hansen and Sue Evans\, this wearable-art session invites kids ages 5 and up to bring a few clothing "discards" and transform them into a showstopping recycled costume using ribbons\, fabric scraps\, and other reusable materials — perfect for the catwalk at the County Fair or just for imaginative play at home. Family Art Days is a beloved community program offering hands-on art classes for children to enjoy alongside a parent or supportive adult\, with all materials provided by SJIMA.
