The Song Orca Sing: A Fundraiser with Friends

July 23 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
$150

Join Friends of the San Juans for an evening of connection, community, and conversation as we celebrate the people, creativity, and collective action helping protect the San Juan Islands and Salish Sea for endangered Southern Resident killer whales.

Throughout the evening, enjoy a relaxed gathering with a charcuterie-style grazing table, local wine, delicious dessert, and live music from talented local musicians. Together, we'll explore what it takes to safeguard the waters we call home through inspiring stories, engaging speakers, and shared community experiences.

We'll also unveil the first look at the results of our creative campaign, The Song Orca Sing—an artistic initiative designed to raise awareness about the impacts of underwater noise from vessel traffic on endangered Southern Resident orcas. Be among the first to experience how this community-driven project uses music and creativity to inspire action and deepen our connection to these iconic whales. Even if you can't make this event, we invite you to take part in the creative campaign by completing this short survey.

In addition, we'll share community input gathered throughout the campaign and feature a special dance performance by San Juan Island dancer Lila Horn, whose work reflects a deep connection to our local environment and community.

Whether you're a longtime supporter or new to Friends of the San Juans, this is an opportunity to connect with neighbors, celebrate local artists, and be part of the conversation about creating a quieter, healthier Salish Sea for Southern Resident killer whales.
