Help Stop Invasive Crabs – Join a Molt Search Training!
European green crabs are invading Washington’s marine shorelines—and we need your help to stop them. These invasive crabs threaten the health of our bays, beaches, and native marine life, but there’s a simple way you can make a real difference.
Join us for a hands-on Molt Search workshop, where you’ll learn how to spot crab molts (the shells they leave behind when they grow) and report your findings using a mobile app. It’s an easy, effective way to help scientists track where these crabs are showing up—and where we need to focus efforts to stop them.
Friends of the San Juans is teaming up with WSU Extension and Washington Sea Grant to bring this community science effort to the islands. No experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to get your feet wet!
