Friday Harbor, published in 2024, is about a murder investigation set in historical Friday Harbor during Prohibition when rum-running and smuggling Chinese immigrants, outlawed by the Chinese Exclusion Act, were criminal pursuits in the remote San Juan Islands. The dangers of alcoholism were known, but attitudes about homosexuals, cultural literacy, and alternate lifestyles could be parochial.
