Purple Light Nights - Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October 1 @ 8:00 am - 11:30 pm

Let's Shine the Light on Domestic Violence

This October, let’s come together for Domestic Violence Awareness Month by lighting up the San Juan Islands in purple. Purple Light Nights is a simple yet powerful way for our community to show support for survivors of domestic violence. By placing purple lights on your home, business, or property, you can help shine a light on the issue and show that we stand united against domestic violence.

How You Can Participate:

  • Get Purple Lights: Reach out to SAFE San Juans for string lights, $15 each. You can also purchase purple lights online or at local stores, and decorate your space with these lights to show your commitment to raising awareness and supporting survivors.
  • Display a Poster: If you’re putting up purple lights and want to help others understand what they stand for, we have Purple Light Nights posters available. These posters are designed to explain that the purple lights are a symbol of solidarity with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault—not just a Halloween decoration! Contact us to get your poster and display it in your window to help spread the message
  • Spread the Word: Encourage friends, family, and neighbors to participate. The more lights we have, the brighter our message will shine!

Throughout the month of October, the purple lights will serve as a beacon of hope, letting survivors know that they are not alone and that our community is here to support them.

Donate to Make a Difference:
In addition to lighting up the island, you can also make a direct impact by donating to SAFE San Juans. Your generous contributions help provide critical services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Visit our website at www.safesj.org to make a donation and support our ongoing work in the community.
